The Genesis Diabetes Program brings education to the schools of the Gila River Indian Community.

School Health

- Our Genesis Program Diabetes Prevention Specialist I (DPS I, Physical Activity Specialists) provides a 10 lesson plan curriculum to school age youth in community public schools, visiting kindergarten and 1st grades.
- The DPS I provides education and physical activities for community programs such as Early Education Centers, District Head Starts; District Early Head Starts; FACE Programs, and community outreach activities.


- Diabetes Prevention Specialist II, (Lactation Specialist) provides support and education to promote breastfeeding by providing a 6 lesson curriculum and provide baby friendly steps.
- The DPS II also provides support to nursing mothers by providing breastfeeding supplies and equipment.


- Provides nutritional education and support to caregivers by providing a 6 lesson plan curriculum.
- Topics covered by the nutritionist include: learning new ways to give your children fruits and vegetables, meal planning, and label reading.

Genesis Tiny Tykes Gym

Genesis Tiny Tikes Gym 2The Genesis Program is introducing the Tiny Tykes Gym to children 4-8 year olds to provide a place for the little ones to workout using child friendly gym equipment.
