About Behavior Specialist Services

The Student Behavior Specialist is responsible for performing a wide variety of student care activities in accordance with state and tribal laws and federal regulations; providing services such as crisis intervention, grief counseling, behavior modification, passive physical restraint to students Pre-K through 12th grade:

  • Serves as a resource of support to parents/guardians of students who require special education services and individuals who struggle with social, behavioral and/or emotional issues.
  • Works with on and off reservation schools where GRIC students are enrolled to complete needs assesments and in developing intervention strategies to ensure needs are correctly identified and appropriate services are being provided in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with behavior health, local Community agencies, programs and departments necessary to coordinate referrals.
