About Head Start Program

Head start is an Early Childhood program that provides comprehensive services to children ages birth to age 5, pregnant women and families in the areas of education, nutrition, physical and mental health, disability services, transportation and family support services.

Gila River Head Start has been providing services to the Community since 1965 and was one of the first Indian Head Start Programs funded. We now have both Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) classrooms. There are 4 Head Start/Early Head Start Centers and they are located and enrolled as follows:
